How Aliens Would Deal With Global Warming
All life evolves, it changes and engineers and then re-engineers until it has a completely new look that helps its function. Humans have been evolving since the beginning of the planet, from single cells, to bacteria, to fish, and so on. And while Earth has been evolving, for all we know, so have extraterrestrials.
Maybe these aliens have been in the universe for less time than we have, or maybe they've been here much longer, but either way some day one of us will find the other. They will find us, or we will find them. And with the great danger humans have posed to our own survival on Earth, it is most likely that we will have to leave our planet and will run into some other living creature, maybe one that looks similar to us or one that looks nothing like anything we've ever seen before. Regardless of this, maybe we'll visit their planet and see it's the perfect habitat for them. They regularly make differences in their habits to keep their planet clean and safe for them. And we'll see what they are doing and wonder why we didn't do any of those things, why no humans stopped to recreate our systems so we could live on Earth for longer. In reality humans have stopped and asked for change. People have begged for promises to be made, treaties chartered, just so that humans had a goal, a limit on what they could do. And a lot of people chose not to listen to what climatologists, people dedicated to knowing what is happening to planet Earth, had to say about what we could do.
But if we pretend that we're not the only ones who have messed up, that these aliens have done the same thing to their planet, maybe they will find us first. They will stumble upon the green and blue Earth that we all know and love, and they will remember exactly what they did to their planet, and maybe they'll want to help us fix our mistakes. Knowing humans, we'd most likely fear the aliens, try to kill them, but perhaps we won't. Just maybe the two races will learn to communicate and the aliens will tell us that we need to stop what we're doing before it's too late and we don't have any way to reverse what we've done. I expect at that point we'll listen to the aliens, stop driving cars as much, start using reusable energy. And maybe that encouragement will be enough to show humans that what's happening is not normal. It will be enough to show that trillions of tons of ice should not falling into the sea. But, then again, that's what scientists have been doing for the last decade, continuously telling us that we need to slow down because we've been doing this for almost two centuries and if we don't stop we'll end up with more deadly plagues, killer weather patterns, and carbon emissions. We haven't listened to our own kind, so why would we listen to someone else.
This was a dare from my dad. He asked me to tell him how aliens would deal with global climate change. I'm sure everyone could come up with creative ways aliens would do it, but that's what I think.
